This year Park City Mountain Resort unveiled MyMountainPlanner.com. This is a very cool web service that allows you to dial in a perfect day at Park City by catering the resort to the type of skiing that you like.
You start by inputting the type of skiing you are interested in. Whether it be Greens, Blues, or Blacks, or maybe you are looking for a historic tour of the mountain, you can dial it in. I said that I preferred black diamond skiing. A second option asked what type of skiing I prefer. I said that I prefer "Groomed-Signature Runs." The third option calls for your challenge. I said that would prefer "Energetic" and that I would like to have terrain parks added to the tour. PCMR.com then builds the perfect day for me. They provide you with a two-page PDF that includes all of the runs and detailed information about the resort.
On your summary page there is a really cool totals section. For my day, I am going to end up riding the lift 17 times for 18 runs, hit up two terrain parks, and the pipe. My vertical is going to be 17,400 feet, and I will end up skiing 17.24 miles. Not a bad day at all.
I really like this service. It is always frustrating when you are riding at a park for the first time, and are unsure of where to ride. This takes a lot of the guesswork out of this world class resort.
Below is an interview with Brooks Robinson, Mountain Ambassador for PCMR. He introduces the planner, and its benefits.
