California invades Snowbird

It’s no secret that California is currently undergoing one of their worst droughts in history.  The snow pack out in Tahoe is something like 15% of normal right now.  The purpose of this blog isn’t to poke fun at all you California Powderhounds. I know you guys are hurting, trust me I hope and pray that the Pineapple Express comes firing into Tahoe like a freight train just as much as you guys do. Usually, when you get snow, we get snow. For some strange reason this year that just hasn’t transpired.

Check out this graphic from the National Weather Service. This shows the current snowpack in the Western United States.

That being said, friends from Tahoe made the trip out to Snowbird the other day. They drove through the night just in time to catch the tail end of our latest storm cycle.  These guys had a blast! Trust me.

As we skied the Bird, these guys must have counted at least 5 other large groups from Squaw Valley out here sampling our Utah Powder.  I’m glad you all made the trip and I’m even happier that the Snow Gods delivered for you.  Remember, you’re all always welcome in Utah. We hope to see you again soon. We are praying your snow situation improves soon!
