Benefit Evening Dedicated to Eliminating World Blindness At Snowbird, Feb. 27 “a night for sight” with dr. geoffrey tabin and Erik Weihenmayer

Snowbird, Utah – The Snowbird Renaissance Center and the John A. Moran Eye Center will host “A Night for Sight: The Possibility of Eliminating Blindness In Our Lifetime,” on Saturday, Feb. 27 at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort. The dinner and silent/live auction event seeks to raise awareness and funds in support of the John A. Moran Eye Center’s International Division of Ophthalmology and the Himalayan Cataract Project.
The fundraising event will feature presentations from Dr. Geoffrey Tabin and acclaimed blind adventurer Erik Weihenmayer. Dr. Tabin is a professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Utah and Director of International Ophthalmology at the Moran Eye Center, as well as the co-founder of the Himalayan Cataract Project. Dr. Tabin was recently featured on the cover of National Geographic Adventure for his humanitarian efforts.
Joining Dr. Tabin is Erik Weihenmayer, an accomplished climber who completed his Seven Summits voyage in 2008 and still stands as the only blind climber to reach the peak of Everest. Weihenmayer is a renowned inspirational speaker, appearing at the 2008 Presidential Inaguaral Celebration, and will be sharing stories and images from his journeys on the evening of Feb. 27.
“A Night for Sight: The Possibility of Eliminating Blindness In Our Lifetime” aims to raise awareness and funds in order to provide support for the Himalayan Cataract Project and the John A. Moran Eye Center’s International Division of Ophthalmology.
The event is slated to begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Cliff Ballroom at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort with silent and live auctions and dinner prepared by Snowbird’s Chef Bruce Phillips. Tickets can be purchased for $75 a seat or $750 for a table of 10 on the Snowbird Renaissance Center’s website at www.snowbirdrc.org or by calling Amy Phillips at (801) 933-2112. Your generous support will help raise the operating funds necessary to continue the Snowbird Renaissance Center’s mission of enhancing body, mind and spirit in Little Cottonwood Canyon.
