Deer Valley Resort Received Recognition of Achievements from the Utah Senate Today

DEER VALLEY RESORT, PARK CITY, UTAH (February 10, 2010) – Deer Valley Resort received a formal congratulations from the Utah State Senate for being named the #1 overall resort in North America by the readers of SKI Magazine three years in a row.  Deer Valley Resort President and General Manager Bob Wheaton was recognized on the Senate Floor today and presented with a certificate signed by Utah Senate President Chris Whaddoups.

Deer Valley Resort was named the #1 ski resort in North America by the readers of SKI Magazine for an incredible third year in a row. Remarkably, in the past nine years, Deer Valley’s rating hasn’t dipped lower than third, with a #2 ranking in 2002; a #1 ranking in 2003; a #3 rating in 2004; a #2 ranking in 2005; another #1 ranking in 2006, a #2 ranking in 2007, a #1 ranking in 2008, 2009 and now for the current 2010 season.

Host of the 2002 Olympics, the 2003 World Championships and the upcoming 2011 World Championships, Deer Valley is the premiere venue worldwide for freestyle skiing and the first resort in North America to host two freestyle World Championships.
The Resort also features world class dining and lodging.  Deer Valley’s Director of Food & Beverage, Julie Wilson was recently named the Utah Restaurateur of the Year by the Utah Restaurant Association. Deer Valley has received multiple awards and designations from prestigious sources such as the Zagat Restaurant Guide, Wine Spectator and the James Beard House.  Closer to home, the Salt Lake Tribune Ski Resort Chili Face-Off just ranked Deer Valley’s Turkey Chili #1 and the Chili Con Carne #2 in the state.
Deer Valley continues its operation through the summer with lift-served mountain biking and hiking, scenic lift rides and deck dining at the Royal Street Café.  Deer Valley is also proud to be the summer home to the Utah Symphony & Opera’s Deer Valley Music Festival.
