Ogden Ski Resorts to be Served by new Seasonal Bus Service

OGDEN, Utah (Dec. 4, 2012) – Ogden City and Weber County are pleased to announce a new agreement with the Utah Transit Authority to offer seasonal ski service to the greater Ogden area ski resorts. Daily service to Snowbasin and Powder Mountain Resorts is planned to begin Saturday, Dec. 15. A free ride day will be offered on Dec. 14.
 
"This service highlights the accessibility of our resorts from downtown Ogden. It’s an extremely inexpensive and convenient way to get out and play in our amazing backyard," said Mike Caldwell, mayor of Ogden City.
 
The service will provide a new transit option for residents and visitors to enjoy the area’s ski resorts. It will be an opportunity for riders to save on gas money, escape winter driving conditions and avoid possible congestion in the canyon due to the water pipeline construction project.
 
Service will originate from the Transit Center in downtown Ogden. First service for skiers departs as early as 7:55 a.m. Service will leave the mountains as late as 4:30 p.m. for Snowbasin and 9:36 p.m. for Powder Mountain. Riders should consult the official schedule at www.rideuta.com for specific weekday, weekend and holiday schedules. Fare is $4.25 each way. Route connections in Weber County may be made at the following Ogden locations:

·      Lincoln Avenue and 24th Street
·      Grant Avenue and 26th Street
·      Washington Boulevard and 25th Street
·      Washington Boulevard and 24th Street
·      Washington Boulevard and 23rd Street
·      Washington Boulevard and 22nd Street
·      Washington Boulevard and 12th Street
·      Rainbow Gardens, 1851 Valley Drive

Routes will then split to specific resort destinations:

Powder Mountain Resort
·      Powder Mountain Park and Ride lot, Highway 158 in Eden (north of Valley Market)
·      Wolf Creek, N. Wolf Creek Drive at the corner of Moose Hollow Drive in Eden

Snowbasin Resort
·      Lakeside Resort Properties, drop and ride location, 6486 Utah 39 in Huntsville
·      Chris’ Cafe Park and Ride lot, 7345 east 900 south in Huntsville
 
“The partnership among Ogden City, Weber County and UTA has strategically developed over time. We are pleased to be able to offer a new transit option for local and visiting snow enthusiasts,” said Jan Zogmaister, Weber County commissioner.
 
A free ride day on Dec.14 will allow patrons to experience the new service. A limited bus schedule will be offered with a 9 a.m. arrival at the ski resorts. Riders should consult the official schedule for departure times. Service will return at 12:15 and 4 p.m. Bus operators will not collect fares. Regular bus schedule and fare collection will begin on Dec 15.
