Park City Food and Wine Classic Returns with New Lineup of Events

May 18, 2011

PARK CITY, UTAH (May 12, 2011) – The seventh annual Park City Food and Wine Classic returns to the Wasatch Mountains July 7-10, 2011 and promises a long weekend full of delectable fare and entertainment. The Park City Food and Wine Classic exhilarates the senses of aficionados and novices, and brings together guests with renowned winemakers, culinary experts and distinguished guests to play, wine and dine amid Park City’s lush mountain settings. The festival, which highlights Park City’s notable culinary community, also aims to support a selected non-profit organization each year. The People’s Health Clinic was chosen as this year’s featured organization.

A full schedule of wine tastings and pairings, gourmet dinners, educational seminars and outdoor adventures are open to the public. The festival’s signature culinary events include the Park City Stroll on historic Main Street and the Toast of Park City Grand Tasting, two community-wide celebrations that allow guests to mingle with each other and sample gourmet creations created by culinary veterans. Wine industry experts, Master Sommeliers and renowned chefs will also host seminars on topics such as the secrets of food and wine pairing, whiskey, beer, sushi, sake and glassware to educate festival goers on all aspects of culinary appreciation. A schedule of seminars can be found online at www.ParkCityFoodandWineClassic.com.

New for 2011, the Park City Food and Wine Classic will offer an introductory-level Sommelier Certification course at the Montage at Deer Valley for anyone interested in mastering the art and science of wines and spirits. Participants in the intensive, two-day instruction and training session will refine their tasting abilities and study beverage service and wine theory. While most Sommelier Certification programs take months to complete, the certification program, accredited by the Court of Master Sommeliers, is available for individuals with a strong interest in pursuing an education in wine. “The Sommelier Certification course is a rare opportunity for people to learn an elite knowledge of wine and spirits,” said Team Player Event Director, Gail Wiltshire. “The Master Sommeliers are instructing this course at one of Park City’s most reputable hotels, and the Montage reflects the very nature of the program’s level of dedication and education.” More information and details on the Sommelier Certification program will be announced in May.

Team Player, event producers of the Park City Food and Wine Classic, is also committed to supporting the efforts of local organizations by donating a portion of ticket sales to selected charities. The People’s Health Clinic of Park City is the 2011 recipient of Team Player’s fundraising efforts and will receive 5% of all ticket sales and 100% of all auction proceeds. To date, Team Player has donated over $1 million to various charities over the course of their event planning. “Our pledge is to tie in a local non-profit with every event we produce,” said Wiltshire. “The Park City Food and Wine Classic not only benefits the local economy by bringing in thousands of visitors from out of town every summer, but it benefits the entire community spirit.”
