Park City Mountain Resort Announces the First Annual Salt Lake City Chill Shred-a-Thon, Saturday, March 13, 2010
March 10, 2010
Park City, Utah (March 10, 2010) – Park City Mountain Resort will host a Shred-a-Thon benefiting the Salt Lake City Chill Program, Saturday, March 13, 2010. Proceeds from this event will directly benefit the 120 inner-city youth from Salt Lake City that participate in the local non-profit instructional program.
“We are extremely excited to partner with Park City Mountain Resort to raise money for the SLC Chill Program this winter,” said Derek Freeburn, National Coordinator for The Chill Foundation. “The money raised will be used to directly benefit the local Salt Lake City site.”
The Chill program strives to change lives through snowboarding and provides unique and positive experiences to underserved youth. Chill uses snowboarding to motivate youth to accomplish goals they never thought they could, while teaching them important lessons about patience, persistence, responsibility, courage, respect, and pride. Thousands of youth in local communities nationwide receive the opportunity to make turns that forever change lives.
A Shred-A-Thon is similar to a walkathon - interested participants solicit sponsors to support riding for a cause. Sponsors donate per 1,000 vertical feet the participant rides during the event. Participants will be eligible to purchase $35 lift tickets to Park City Mountain Resort the day of the event. Representatives from the Chill program will reach out to individual sponsors after the event to gather donations.
