Park City Nordic Ski Club Joins Utah Olympic Park Sports Programs

The Park City Nordic Ski Club and Utah Olympic Park (UOP) announced that the Park City Nordic Ski Club will become one of the UOP sport programs effective October 4, 2010.

(Park City, Utah)  September 15, 2010   The Park City Nordic Ski Club and Utah Olympic Park announced today that the Park City Nordic Ski Club will become one of UOP’s in-house sport programs joining FLY Freestyle and G-Force Bobsled and Skeleton programs. 

Over the past several years, Utah Olympic Park with continued Olympic legacy support from Utah Athletic Foundation, has seen significant increases in program participation and overall program effectiveness as a result of a stepped up effort and commitment to sport programs.  Utah Olympic Park will offer increased support to the Park City Nordic Ski Club, ensuring long-term stability and an increase in effectiveness of athlete development programs. 

“Taking an increased responsibility to ensure the success of the Nordic programs in the region is a logical and appropriate next step for us,” Colin Hilton, Utah Athletic Foundation CEO, said.  “Our Olympic legacy organization is motivated to more directly recruit, administer, and sustain program participants in Nordic programs by effectively utilizing our dedicated team of professionals to augment an existing world class coaching staff.”

With Utah Olympic Park administrative support, coaches will now be available to spend more time focusing on coaching.  Utah Olympic Park’s experienced sport staff will recruit and engage participants while ensuring quality age-appropriate sport development programs. Providing fundraising, marketing, bookkeeping and other administrative tasks will contribute to the strength of the club.

“As the Program Director and Head Coach of the PCNSC, I look forward to joining with Utah Olympic Park,” said Alan Alborn.  “All of the kids in our program, from 2010 medalist Brett Camerota, to our newest J5's, were all inspired by the 2002 Olympics held here.  The combination of Utah Sport For Life and our passion for youth in all winter sports will ensure the Park City Nordic Ski Club success in programs for years to come.”

Park City Nordic Ski Club will be managed by a full-time UOP program administrator and backed by the UAF team with administrative support in budgeting and financial services, long-term strategic planning with coordination among all winter sports and more direct ties to facility operations.
