Ogden, Utah – January 16, 2010 – Canadian Sarah Burke, 27, won the women’s freeski superpipe specialty competition and 19-year-old New Zealand-native Jossi Wells took his first ever Winter Dew Tour win in the men’s freeski superpipe final at the Winter Dew Tour’s Wendy’s Invitational at Snowbasin Resort.

After taking a fall on her first run, Burke opened up her second with a 900 followed by a 540 and a flawless 720 to earn her the first-place score of 91.75. Trailing behind in second was local favorite Jen Hudak of Salt Lake City, Utah. The 23 year old finished with an 88.75, and her run included stylish spins and a 720. The third-place podium spot went to Canadian Rosalind Groenewould, 19, whose 360 switch helped earn a final score of 83.00.

“It’s the first competition of the season for me here at the Dew Tour so I’m stoked that it started off right,” said Burke. “I picked a great venue to do it in.”

On the men’s side, Wells sealed his first-place 92.50 during his first run, landing him at the top of the podium for the first time in his Winter Dew Tour career. Wells threw out a crowd-pleasing double flip and an alley-oop flatspin during his winning run, earning him the lead spot in the Winter Dew Tour rankings.

“I feel great, and I laid down a run that I was really happy with,” said Wells. “Now I just have that top spot that I need to hold on to in Mount Snow so I couldn’t be more stoked.”

Twenty three-year-old Simon Dumont of Bethel, Maine came in a close second with a score of 91.38, and Aspen, Colo.-native, Peter Olenick, 25, rounded out the podium in third with 89.50.
