Snowbird Celebrates July 4th with Skiing, Pancakes, Live Music

June 27, 2011

SNOWBIRD, UTAH – Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort plans to celebrate Independence Day with a pancake breakfast, live music, skiing and summer activities.

“Whether you want to ski on the upper mountain, or enjoy summer activities and listen to live music at the village, the forecast looks fantastic for a special holiday weekend at Snowbird,” said Bob Bonar, Snowbird’s President.

The all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast will also include scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, coffee, tea, orange juice and more. The price for adults is $10.95, or $17.95 for breakfast and an Aerial Tram ride (for sightseeing only, not valid for skiing). Breakfast for children ages 6-12 will cost $7.50, and children 5 and younger are free. Breakfast will be served from 9 a.m. until noon, and the Tram will run from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Limited edition “I skied the Bird on July 4th” T-shirts will be on sale for $10 each.

Live music will be performed on the Plaza Deck by C.J. Santoro Dixieland Band during breakfast, and The Quick and Easy Boys will play from 1 until 3 p.m.

Snowbird is offering a special holiday lodging package deal from $65*, which includes a room, all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, unlimited pedestrian use of the Aerial Tram and Snowbird’s signature summer activities. With each paying adult, one child age 12 and under can enjoy unlimited activities free with this lodging package. *Rate is per person based on double occupancy exclusive of taxes and fees, and rates will vary upon accommodations selected.

Snowbird’s signature summer activities are now offered daily from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., and include the Aerial Tram, ZipRider, Bungy Trampoline, Climbing Wall, Ropes Course, Air Jumper, Mechanical Bull and Kids’ Inflatables. The Alpine Slide will likely open for the Fourth of July weekend.

Skiing and riding will be offered from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m., at a reduced price of $49 for this special closing weekend. Due to rapidly melting snowpack on the lower mountain, the skiing and riding at Snowbird will be limited to the upper mountain. Each season pass and day ticket will be valid for one ride up and one ride down the Tram. The open upper-mountain lifts will be Mineral Basin Express and Little Cloud, conditions permitting. Peruvian Gulch and Gad Valley below Little Cloud will be treated as backcountry. Snowbird is open for skiing Friday, July 1 through Monday, July 4.

Snowbird already offers Utah’s longest ski season, and will break its own record July Fourth with 202 days of skiing.

Snowbird season passes are now on sale. The first 50 to purchase and pick up their 2011/12 season pass before July 4 will receive a limited edition “I skied the Bird on July 4th” T-shirt and will be entered to win prizes including two inflatable Trams, two  iPod Touch 32 GBs, two All-Day Activities Passes and two 2011/12 day ski tickets. The drawing will be held on July 4 and the winner will be announced on Facebook.
