Steve Earle, Little Feat, Alejandro Escovedo To Rock Snowbird

July 20, 2009

Snowbird, Utah – The perennial favorite Snowbird Rock & Blues Festival is fusing its traditionally star-studded musical lineup with some exciting changes for 2009: this year’s event is expanding to three days over Pioneer Weekend, July 24-26, and moving outdoors to the new Peruvian Terrace venue.

“With a premier roster and a beautiful backdrop for music over this holiday weekend, we felt that it was time to make Rock & Blues a full weekend event,” said Snowbird Renaissance Center (SRC) General Manager Teri Mumm. “We’ve got a fantastic lineup planned for a very affordable price, along with tons of Snowbird summer activities for the entire family.”

Alejandro Escovedo and the Arc Angels headline on Friday, July 24, with music beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday’s highlights include Danielia Cotton and Coco Montoya before rock legends Little Feat celebrate their 40-year anniversary by closing out the night with a 9 p.m. performance. Sunday features the Grammy award-winning Steve Earle alongside Janiva Magness and a host of others. The complete artist schedule and lineup, along with bios, music samples, ticket and festival information is available at www.snowbirdrc.org.

The new Peruvian Terrace was unveiled last weekend during the Mountain Music Festival to rave reviews. The venue offers stunning views of the surrounding Wasatch Mountains and the choice of front row dancing space, general admission seating or sloped lawn space for chairs and blankets.

General admission tickets for Rock & Blues are $35/day purchased in advance, $45/day at the gate. An all-festival general admission pass is $75 in advance, $85 at the gate. Children under 12 are free with a paying adult. Tickets for the festival are currently on sale at www.snowbirdrc.org or by calling (801) 933-2215. Lodging packages including festival tickets, breakfast and access to summer activities are available through Snowbird Central Reservations at (800) 453-3000.

The Snowbird Rock & Blues Festival also includes a number of free events, including an Air Guitar Competition (with local celebrity judges), kids music lessons and a variety of blues-based workshops. The festival is presented by the SRC, where high art lives up to its name through enhancing arts and cultural opportunities in Little Cottonwood Canyon.
