Story of Paralympian's Summit of Kilimanjaro Premiers in Park City

Park City, UT- April 27, 2011- ONE REVOLUTION will premier in Park City May 13th.  This film documents Chris Waddell’s expedition to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.  In 2010, Waddell became the first person to reach the 19,298 foot summit with by arm power alone.  One Revolution courageously documents Waddell’s incredible mental and physical strength to reach the summit.

 

One Revolution’s Park City premier will be held the Eccles Center at 7 PM.  A limited number of VIP tickets are available for $100, which includes preferred seating and access to the after party at Silver on Main Street.  General admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children. In 1988, Waddell suffered a detrimental skiing accident, which left him paralyzed from the waist down.  Prior to his accident, Waddell was promising young member of the Middlebury College ski team. Determined to get back on skis, he began monoskiing one year after his accident. Two years later, Waddell was named to the US Disabled Ski Team.

 

Waddell was named the Dalai Lama’s “unsung hero of compassion” and has been featured in numerous publications, including Outside Magazine, Skiing, Ski, National Geographic Explorer, and People Magazine, who named him one of “The 50 Most Beautiful People in the World.” He has also appeared on NBC Dateline and Oprah. His journey to the top of Africa was also featured on CBS Evening News.

 

One Revolution received top honors at the Memphis International Film Festival, “Best Feature Documentary” at the Geneva Film Festival and also received The Bronze Palm Award from the Mexico International Film Festival and has been accepted to the Alabama International Film Festival.

 

Waddell will be in attendance at the Park City premier along with the director of the film, Amanda Stoddard. Stoddard is a promising young filmmaker and is a rising talent in the documentary scene.
