Sundance Resort Opens Friday, Dec. 9 for the 2011-2012 Winter Season

December 10, 2011

Sundance Resort is set to open for ski
and snowboard season on December 9th, 2011. Sundance Resort is moving
and expanding its terrain park for the 2011-2012 winter season. This
move is primarily focused on putting the terrain park in a location that
would allow it to remain open during night skiing operations. Additional
lights will be added to enhance the night riding experience in the park.

"We are looking forward to our best winter season ever.  We have
been hard at work this summer on moving our Terrain Park so that we can
include it in our Night Skiing operations.  We will also be increasing
the number of terrain features within our park.  Though difficulty level
will remain the same, we feel that these changes will add a new element
of excitement to our park,” commented Czar Johnson, Director of
Mountain Operations.
“We have also added the "Outlaw Trail" to our
offerings this year.  This is a theme trail for children and can be
accessed from our midway stop on Ray's lift.  Riddled with painted
scenes with an old west theme, this trail is sure to be a favorite among
the kids riding this winter at Sundance.  Add to all of this an amazing
staff trained and ready to serve and we are very much excited about our
early December opening," concluded Johnson.
Johnson recently took over his current position from Jerry
Warren, former Director of Mountain Operations and a Sundance Resort
icon. Warren will still be involved with Sundance as Director of Skiing.

Johnson is also familiar in the Sundance world and has worked at
the Resort since 1995, starting out in the rental shop and eventually
taking over the Sundance Ticket Office. Under Johnson’s direction,
ticket office sales revenue grew by 200%.
“For the next 8 years I took on more and more responsibility
and continued to think outside the box.  Learning everything I could
from my mentor Jerry Warren as Mountain Operations continued to have
great growth and success,” commented Johnson.
Also new this year the Resort is adding punch pass
cards for the customer who is looking for value, but may not be able to
get out on the mountain as much as they may like. This option gives that
consumer an alternative.
“Sundance is proud to have such great ski industry
professionals as Jerry Warren and Czar Johnson, who are committed to
exploring new ways to create an innovative ski experience for guests. We
are all very excited for another great winter season at Sundance,”
said Chad Linebaugh, Sundance General Manager.
