Super “Bowls” Sunday - Utah Resorts Offer Fresh Snow and Uncrowded Slopes

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH- Super Bowl Sunday is one of America’s most cherished pastimes. Millions of viewers will gather with family and friends to watch modern-day gladiators battle for the NFL Championship title. Ski Utah encourages skiers and snowboarders to add to this popular tradition by heading to the “Super Bowls” of Utah’s resorts before they head to the couch.

“Super Bowl Sunday tends to be one of the least crowded days at Utah ski and snowboard resorts,” noted Ski Utah President Nathan Rafferty. “Easy access to our resorts makes it completely possible to ski all day and make it home in time for kick-off.”

Research by the Calorie Control Council in Atlanta, GA and Snack Food Association finds that Americans will eat 30 million pounds of snacks on the big game day. The average Super Bowl viewer will consume 1,200 calories and 50 grams of fat from snacking alone during the game. Adding outdoor recreation to one’s Super Bowl tradition can help to make the day healthier and happier.

Additionally, forecasts call for a chance of snow at Utah ski and snowboard resorts this coming weekend adding to the more than 320 inches of snow already received at Utah resorts this season. Here are a few tips to make your Super “Bowls” Sunday possible:

1.) Don the colors of your favorite team when hitting the slopes. You will be sure to make many new friends and enemies with this tactic.
2.) Order pizza, wings and other snacks in advance and pick up on the way home from resorts.
3.) Suggest that one of your friends host the get together. That way you will not have to worry about cleaning.
4.) Catch first chair allowing ample time to get your powder fix.
5.) Wash your victorious ski day down guilt-free with a frosty brew and your favorite Super Bowl snacks.
