Utah Olympic Park "Festival of Flight" Event July 31,2010

Utah Olympic Park will host “Festival of Flight” in conjunction with the 12th Annual North American Springer Tournee ski jump event.
(Park City, Utah) July 27, 2010 The 12th Annual Springer Tournee series will take place July 27 – August 1. On Saturday, July 31, Utah Olympic Park will host the “Festival of Flight”. The event is scheduled to include the 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm K120 Long Standing Competition and the 4:45pm awards of the Springer Tournee.
Jamie Kimball, Utah Olympic Park Jump Manager and event organizer said, “I’m really excited to have the Festival of Flight back for its second year, especially on the heels of a great Olympic season and the fact that the Backcountry.com US Nordic National Championships will be held at the same time as the Festival of Flight this summer. I think it’s a great opportunity for people to experience what we do here each and every day. It will be a great. People will have an opportunity to see what happens at the Park whether it is jumping in the pool or taking a Comet Bobsled ride, or enjoying a ride on the Ziplines and Quicksilver Alpine Slide. It’s non-stop fun all summer long”.
In addition to Springer Tournee activities, a full afternoon of excitement will take place on Saturday at Utah Olympic Park beginning at noon.
12:00pm - 5:00pm Bounce house, face painting, barbeque, beer garden, and shaved ice.
12:00pm - 3:00pm “Sun Splash” Pool Competition.
1:00pm – 3:00pm Olympic mascots will be on site.
1:00pm – 3:00pm Sport skill zone will be set up for ages 7-11.
1:00pm – 3:00pm Olympic Fun Zone for ages 12-18.
1:00pm – 3:00pm Olympic Athletes and National Team Members Visit Olympic Fun Zone
2:30pm – 3:30pm K120 Springer Tournee Long Standing Competition
3:30pm – 4:30pm School of Rock Performs
4:45pm Springer Tournee Awards
5pm Flying Ace All-Stars Freestyle Show
Admission is free. (There are charges for food, beverage and additional activities/UOP rides not on schedule).
Especially exciting this year will be the visit of United States Olympians and national team members in the “Olympic Fun Zone”. Scheduled to appear are: Scott Bahrke (freestyle), Shannon Bahrke (freestyle), Rebekah Bradford (speed skating), Brett Camerota (Nordic jumping), Lauren Cholewinski (freestyle), Emily Cook (freestyle), Valerie Fleming (bobsled), Steven Holcomb (bobsled), Derek Parra (speed skating), Shauna Rohbock (bobsled), Lacy Schnoor (freestyle), Bill Schuffenhauer (bobsled), and Megan Sweeney (luge).
Friday, July 30 and Sunday, August. 1 mark the 2011 U.S. Ski Jumping/Nordic Combined Championships featuring Olympic gold and silver Nordic combined medalist Billy Demong. Jumping action begins on Friday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a 5:00 p.m. roller ski exhibition race at Utah Olympic Park. Sunday the jumping competition starts at 9:00 a.m. at Utah Olympic Park with a 6:00 p.m. cross country race at Soldier Hollow.
