PARK CITY, Utah (March 30, 2016) – CenterCal Properties broke ground on an 8.5 acre mixed-use development project in Summit County yesterday. The project is comprised of 61,000 square feet of retail space and 20 apartment units which will be deed restricted as affordable. Whole Foods will be anchoring the project with a 43,000 square foot prototypical new store.
A groundbreaking event for the project will took place Tuesday, March 29, at 4 p.m. Summit County Officials were on hand, including County Council members Roger Armstrong and Kim Carson as well as County Manager Tom Fisher.
“We are very excited to have the opportunity to work with Summit County on such a prominent piece of property. Kimball Junction represents the gateway into Park City, and we look forward to creating a project that the entire community can be proud of.” Said Fred Bruning, CEO, CenterCal Properties
As part of their development agreement with the County, CenterCal will be incorporating a package of public benefits into the project. Canyon Corners will feature a new bus shelter, a bike share system as well as a financial contribution to the Kimball Junction Circulator bus system. The project will also feature 20 units of workforce housing that will be located on the 2nd story of the project’s 18,000 square foot shop building.
“The planning and entitlement process for this project included countless hours of collaboration between County Staff and CenterCal. We are very proud of the outcome of the process and believe the Canyon Corners project will be indicative of the goals and desires of the community for this landmark piece of property.” Said Fred Bruning of CenterCal.
Opening for the Canyon Corners project is scheduled for Summer/Fall of 2017 with approximately 7-10 retailers and restaurants.
