SNOWBIRD, Utah — Continuing its tradition of providing free rides on its iconic aerial Tram while helping Utah’s hungry, Snowbird announced the dates for its annual Customer Appreciation Days Event. On Oct. 20, 21, 22, 28 and 29 guests will receive a free foot passenger Tram ride with the donation of either three cans of food, one hygiene item to the Utah Food Bank, or a $6 donation to Wasatch Adaptive Sports.
“Utah Food Bank is incredibly grateful for the long-term support we receive from Snowbird and its customers, and we look forward to this event every year,” said Ginette Bott, Utah Food Bank Chief Development Officer. “Over the years, this effort has provided the equivalent of close to 54,800 meals for the one in eight Utahns who face hunger, and it comes at an important time just as we kick off our annual Holiday Food & Fund Drive.”
Last year 14,164 pounds of food was donated to the Utah Food Bank because of the annual event, which provided 11,800 meals to Utah children and families. In addition, $9,912 was raised to support the recreational, educational and social programs of Wasatch Adaptive Sports serving children, adults and veterans with adaptive needs. d
To take advantage of the offer, guests can either bring three packages of food, three hygiene items or $6, to Snowbird from 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. during the event. The Utah Food Bank requests that food should be commercially packaged (boxes, cans) and non-perishable items low in sodium, sugar, and corn syrup. Most needed food items include beef stew, chili, peanut butter, tuna, boxed meals, rice and canned meats. Hygiene items are also appreciated and the food bank is especially asking for toothpaste, soap, baby diapers and wipes. And, of course, additional donations beyond the minimum are enthusiastically welcomed, Bott said.
During Customer Appreciation Days, Adult All Day Activities passes will be discounted to $25, and $20 for children under 42 inches tall. The passes grant access to the aerial Tram and popular family fun activities: Mountain Coaster, Ropes Course, Mountain Flyer andBungee Trampoline.
During the 2017 Snowbird Customer Appreciation Event, The Summit on Hidden Peak will be open 11 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Starting Oct. 31, The Summit The Summit will be closed until the ski season open, which is anticipated for Nov. 22, 2017.
