Tristen Lilly and Piper Kunst: New Royalty

By Tom Kelly Apr 6, 2026
What’s it feel like to drop into Corbet’s Couloir? Alta locals Tristen Lilly and Piper Kunst know. This year, they took home King and Queen of Corbet’s, earning their place on one of skiing’s biggest stages. In the Last Chair Season 7 finale, they sit down with Tom Kelly to talk about their paths to big mountain skiing, meeting in a lift line at Alta, and what goes through your head when you’re staring into that 20-foot drop. From Piper’s first win with no sponsors to Tristen’s viral 720 entry, this is the story of two skiers building a life in the Wasatch and pushing what’s possible.
Tristen Lilly and Piper Kunst: New Royalty

There’s something awe-inspiring about watching skiers huck flips into the depths of Corbet’s Couloir. What are they thinking? Yet every February, invited skiers and riders soar into the 20-foot drop with a near-vertical lip and narrow walls that require big-air confidence, precise edge control, and extreme composure under pressure. Enter the newest King and Queen of Corbet’s, Alta’s own Tristen Lilly and Piper Kunst. Now, they’re bringing their story to Last Chair, the Ski Utah podcast.

A native of Colorado, Kunst grew up skiing at Breckenridge. College at the University of Utah brought her to Little Cottonwood Canyon, and she’s never looked back. Lilly, meanwhile, ripped it up as a kid at Sunday River near his home in Bethel, ME. Ski vacations brought him to the Wasatch each year. So after high school, he made the move. Then the two of them met in a lift line at Alta. And the rest is skiing history.

While it was a chance meeting, Lilly admits he had heard of Kunst through her renowned 360 on tele skis. Yes on teles!

A few years after moving to Utah, Kunst had the concept of entering Corbet’s. She did some wrangling through a friend, got an entry in 2022, and she won! She brought Lilly along a year ago. He finished third with a 720 hand-drag entry that went viral!

Lilly had been thinking about Corbet’s for a while – a sick thing to do. Kunst, who now skied it four times, helped make the connections a year ago.

In addition to carving up the Wasatch on skis, Kunst is an accomplished artist. Last year she won big honors from TGR for her film MIMIC. Check it out!

Today, Tristen and Piper spend their days making lines high up in the Wasatch, trying to get on skis as many days as they can. Check them out in the Last Chair Season 7 finale as they talk about their pathway to big mountain skiing, their chance meeting at Alta, and their new life as royalty. And watch for them in the lift line next season to say hi!

Thanks to all for listening to and watching Last Chair this season. Watch for Season 8 coming next fall.
