15 Things to do at a Utah Resort This Year

Variety. It keeps life exciting. In Utah, we are fortunate to have 15 ski resorts to explore, meaning I can’t ski it all in one season (or two for that matter). It helps to know what not to miss at each place, a bucket list per se, so that each trip counts.

Have fun picking away at this list of activities to try at each of Utah’s 15 resorts. Some I’ve tried myself, while others are still on my own list.

Honeycomb Canyon Powder

Utah Ski Resort Bucket List

Alta Ski Area – Don’t miss Catherine’s Area located off the Supreme Chair, Catherine’s Area holds fresh snow for days and offers terrain suitable for every type of skier. Catherine’s your ticket for powder shots.

Beaver Mountain – Locals say, "Ski the backside!" at Beaver Mountain.

Brian Head – Play in the Training Ground terrain park. “We’re committed to building terrain parks that maximize fun and help riders progress no matter what part of the season we’re in. We’ll continue to expand as we get more snow, the best is definitely yet to come,” said Terrain Park Manager Noah Schwander.

Brighton Resort – Night skiing takes on a new dimension at Brighton which offers some of the most extensive night skiing in the West – with over 200 acres, three lifts, and the main mountain terrain park.

Canyons Resort – Take a full-day mountain tour is actually a full-day lesson, but it takes you all over the mountain. I did this last season and loved it! Another not-to-miss activity is zip-lining. The Red Pine Zip Tour is an 800-foot long treetop ride through the Red Pine Lodge area, and the Lookout Zip Tour flies you across the canyon between Lookout Peak and Red Pine Lodge spanning over 2,111 feet.

Cherry Peak – Utah’s newest resort opens soon so any activity here will be an event!

Deer Valley – This next item is high on my personal bucket list! The Fireside Dining at Deer Valley includes four courses served from stone fireplaces. Enjoy warm Swiss raclette cheese, cured meats, salads, entrees, hearty sides, fire-roasted lamb, fresh baked bread, and dessert fondues. I’m drooling right now.

Eagle Point - Visit the on-mountain warming station nicknamed, the Lookout, with 360-degree views of the Tushar Mountains.

Nordic Valley – Hit up the terrain park which has been relocated for the 2014/15 season and the name of the lift servicing the Terrain Park is Crockett (like Davy Crockett).

Park City Mountain Resort – Watch for the Signature Run logo on PCMR’s website. The Signature Runs™ are groomed, allowing intermediate skiers/riders to conquer all kinds of challenging new terrain.

Powder Mountain – Powder. True to its name, Powder Mountain delivers stashes days after a storm. To find your way around, take advantage of their free guide service. Locals would prefer you not visit however…it’s that good.

Snowbasin – The Tubing Hill at Snowbasin is fun family activity located at the base of the 2002 downhill race run. It is served by a handle tow lift and includes an inflatable tube with your ticket. The hill opens sometime in mid-January, so check their site before planning a visit.

Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort – Snowbird’s tram up Hidden Peak is a must-do during your visit. The view from the top is beyond stunning!

Solitude Mountain Resort – Looking for powder stashes and pretty tree runs? Head to Solitude’s scenic Honeycomb Canyon.

Sundance Mountain Resort – When even lift ride is a beautiful event, it’s going to be a good day. Sundance offers spectacular views, but the night tours are worth seeking out. One in particular is on my bucket list, the Night Owling Snowshoe Tour.
