Utah Skiing Made Easier - Childcare On The Slopes

By Annie Davis Apr 24, 2026
A ski vacation with young kids doesn’t have to mean trading turns on the slopes or cutting your day short for nap time (I get it. Been there, done that with my kiddos many-a-season). But one of the most underrated perks of skiing in Utah is that many of the resorts offer on-mountain daycare or childcare services. This means you have the freedom to ski the terrain and timing of your choice while your youngest adventurers are cared for in safe, engaging environments.
Utah Skiing Made Easier - Childcare On The Slopes

Whether you’re traveling with infants, toddlers, or kids who aren’t quite ready for ski school, Utah has several options that make family ski trips smoother and a lot more fun.

Several Utah ski resorts offer licensed daycare facilities staffed with trained caregivers where kids can play, nap, and explore while parents enjoy the mountain. Programs often include:

  • Age-appropriate playrooms
  • Arts and crafts
  • Outdoor snow play
  • Story time and music
  • Nap areas for younger kids

Some childcare centers also coordinate with ski schools so kids can transition into lessons when they’re ready.

Additional Resorts With Childcare or Babysitting Options

Even if a resort doesn’t operate a formal daycare facility, some still offer childcare through concierge services or local providers.

Snowbasin Resort & Powder Mountain

While Snowbasin and Powder Mountain don’t have on-mountain childcare facilities, the resorts partner with local childcare providers such as High Altitude Kids, which provides childcare services in Eden, Utah. More info and reservations here.

Tips for Booking Resort Childcare

If you plan to use daycare during your ski trip, keep these tips in mind:

  • Reserve early. Childcare spots fill quickly, especially during holidays and powder weekends.
  • Check age requirements. Some centers accept infants just weeks old, while others start around 6 months.
  • Consider half-day options. A more economical option for many parents is to ski the morning while kids are in daycare and spend the afternoon exploring the resort together.

The Secret to Stress-Free Family Ski Trips

Utah’s ski resorts have built a reputation for being incredibly family-friendly, and childcare programs are a big part of that experience.

While older kids head to ski school or take advantage of programs like the Ski Utah Passport, parents can carve a few runs knowing their youngest are safe, warm, and having fun.

And let's be honest, sometimes the best parenting hack on a ski trip is a few guilt-free powder laps.
