Good Karma Makes It Snow!!!

There are a lot of really awesome opportunities to give back to the snow community and give some people the chance to enjoy what we all so passionately love. Here are just a few.

The First Chair Foundation

I’m regional director for this awesome non-profit http://thefirstchair.org. We gets kids from low-income homes into learn to ski and snowboard programs. I was raised by an incredibly hardworking single mother. She was able to provide an opportunity for my sister and I so ski/snowboard through a discounted after-school program. I am so thankful for the opportunity as it has absolutely changed my life for the best. Last year, Our 1st year funded 36 kids that would otherwise not have the chance to ski or snowboard. This year our goal is to fund 150 for a 5 week after-school program.

This year we are throwing a killer fundraiser 12/7/14 5:00PM at the Movie Grille in Ogden where will be will playing the ski film "Into The Mind". There will be some amazing raffle/silent action items from RossignolDakineWubangerSalomonNectar SunglassesCanyonsSki UtahPowder Mountain Bombas SocksSandmarcBilly Barber ShopKimbal Arts CenterMountain Sports Chiropractic and SOOOO many more!!! Come hang out, win some amazing prizes all for a good cause!

Bring Jim Home!!!

One of Utah’s finest photographers, all-around awesome people and one of my idols Jim Harris suffered spinal and cranial trauma from an accident while preparing for a Trans-Patagonia expedition in Punta Arenas, Chile. He is in serious condition but stable.  Jim's expedition partners have remained by his side .  A medical evacuation will take place in the coming days to bring Jim home to the states for surgery and rehabilitation. Click here for the full story and learn how to help!!!

Team Utah

Friends

Team Utah is a great way for kids to be apart of a progressive team. Team Utah is a non-profit that helps spread the cost of snowboarding amongst a team. I would have absolutely loved this opportunity growing up! Team Utah has 9 chapters (Locations)

The Snowbasin Chapter is offering a developmental program for entry level competition athletes from age 8 on up. Focusing mainly on freeriding and freestyle fundamentals, athletes will work to achieve their own personal goals in a supportive team environment – having fun and developing new skills.

Riders should be comfortable on “blue” terrain, and have the desire to start riding “black” terrain, as well as small – medium terrain features.

To participate in any Team Utah Snowboarding, Inc. programs you must have a current Team Utah membership. Click here to register/renew your membership.

Program options are outlined on the Team Utah Snowbasin winter programs registration page. Click here to review and register for the Snowbasin chapter programs.

For questions or additional info please contact Team Utah Snowbasin’s head coach Nick Blackwell at nick@teamutah.org.

Team Utah and I also had a lot of fun at Snogression a few weeks ago. Watch here!
