Holiday happenings at the resorts!

By Mountain Mama Dec 18, 2013
I love the holiday season. A time to step back and enjoy. No deadlines, no school, time off work and...time to ski! We revolve our holiday traditions around the resorts. I've compiled a list of fun suggestions to do over the holidays.
Holiday happenings at the resorts!

Traditions are the backbone of families. My family holiday traditions involve watching the torchlight parade on Christmas Eve at Snowbird and last year we added the New Years Eve torchlight parade at Alta in which Emily and I skied down!

Here is a list of some fun ideas over the next couple weeks:

Alta:  Torchlight parade and fireworks on New Years Eve.  Anyone can ski down as long as you can tackle a blue run.  So worth it to add to your traditions.  You can still get home in time to ring in the New Year.

Brian Head: Live music, family friendly party with a torchlight parade and fireworks.

Brighton:  Dress up like Santa and the first 50 ski/board free on Christmas Eve.  Another note, a womens board park is opening this Saturday.

Canyons:  This Saturday the 21st, the first 50 ski/boarders dressed up ski free.  Santa will be hanging out on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and there is a BIG New Years Eve celebration with fireworks, dinners and sleigh rides!

Deer Valley: Santa Claus will be visiting on Christmas Eve and on December 30th there is the wonderful torchlight parade with yummy cookies and cider.

Park City: Torchlight parade and Christmas Eve celebration.  There is always the Alpine Coaster and Zip Line which are fun in the snow!  Or check out the Gorgoza Tubing park.

Snowbasin: Torchlight parade and Santa arrives via sleigh in the Christmas Eve celebration.  Also a wonderful dinner-Snowbasin's food is awesome! This Friday, Burton Riglet Park opens!  Can't wait to check this out!

Snowbird: Christmas Eve torchlight parade and fireworks.  This is followed by a candlelight service.  Bonfires, cocoa and Santa-a cozy way to spend Christmas Eve.

Solitude:  Santa pays a visit on Christmas. December 30 is the Childrens Glow Parade.  Kids ski parade followed by cocoa and treats.  Never tried this before, on my to do list this year!

Sundance:  Doesn't surprise me that there are so many fun-filled family activities happening for a whole week.  From movie screenings to crafts to food.....check it out!  Sundance does things in style!
