New Noshes at America’s Largest Resort

New Noshes at America’s Largest Resort

As you might imagine, some of that $50 million that Vail Resorts invested in improvements at Park City (+ Canyons) went toward the dining and après-ski scenes. This is good news! PCMR (old name) had some reliable options but was in need of some dining upgrades. Canyons (old name) had one of Utah’s best restaurants at the base—The Farm—and this, thankfully, remains untouched. There are, however, exciting new options on that “side” of the resort. Remember, it’s all ONE now. There is only one, connected by the zippy new Quicksilver Gondola.

The newest perch, welcoming skiers with Hendrix tunes and a relaxed but “this is epic” kind of vibe, is Miners Camp. A spacious timber and glass structure with a cantilevered roof, this new on-mountain restaurant is modern and bright, yet cozy. It seats 500 hungry skiers/boarders indoors plus room for sun-lovers on the east-facing deck.

At Miners Camp, every day is like Sunday, with mouthwatering Miners Pie and meatloaf sandwiches on focaccia. Or...Sunday in the Mediterranean with hand-carved lamb gyros, kebabs and tabbouleh. For something light, try the delicious, well-portioned, made-to-order Asian pear gorgonzola salad. For something not-so-light, chew on the deep fried cheese curds.

Miners Camp Restaurant is the shining beacon this year, but there are other bright spots to check out.

P.S. I found a new run at Park City for my Favorite’s List: Willy’s. From the base at Legacy Lodge, take the Crescent Lift, hang a sharp right and enjoy this wide black diamond cruiser.

Here's the cheat-sheet of what's new:

Red Pine Lodge: NEW 250 seats. Rich, tasty winter beef stew.

Summit House: More seating, better views and famous bison chili.

Sun Lodge: Off a great run on the north side, now serving one of my favorite soups: Posole. Also, a made-to-order burrito bar.

Legacy Lodge: Upstairs, check out the new Asian station, with hot soups and familiar dishes.

Cloud Dine: This opened two year's ago, but get up there for the pot pie and the delicious donuts!
