Snowasis and spring skiing at Park City

It is the time of the year where the crowds thin, but the snow is still amazing! All this week Park City Mountain Resort is hosting Snowasis, a fun filled week of activities and entertainment for kids and adults!
Snowasis and spring skiing at Park City

Park City Mountain Resort is much more than just a ski resort.  There are so many other activities such as the Alpine Coaster, the Flying Eagle Zip Line and more.  There is always some entertainment and great food available.  We decided to head up and do some skiing and take in the first day of Snowasis.  It is winter retreat for the whole family that goes on through Sunday March 30th.  More in a minute.

There is so much terrain to ski at Park City.  My favorite area for the kids who are beginner to intermediate is off the top of the Bonanza lift.  A lot of the lifts are 6 loader lifts-which my kids get a kick out of-guess it doesn't take much to entertain.  Head up Payday lift, and you'll see the Nastar course off to the left.  This is open to the public for a small fee and it gives you a chance to test your speed skills.  I have none and the kids wanted to do it, but we ran out of time.  Once off Payday, head off to the Bonanza lift.  At the top you get amazing views, there is a great restaurant and it is a meeting point of several other high speed lifts that access a whole area of terrain.  If you want to take it easy, you can head down from Bonanza on a green run, Home Run, all the way to the bottom of the resort.  It is a nice gentle slope and gives the kids a great chance to do a very long run and practice their turns. If you're feeling a little bit more adventurous, head over to McConkey's lift.  It has a nice cruisy blue run and has the most amazing views in the resort.  Emily, on the other hand, did the McConkey's bowl which is a double black mogal run.  I held my breath all the way around the blue run to meet her at the bottom.  She did great and asked what took me so long!

Another fun activity on the mountain is to look for the snowbugs.  The adventure map is on the back of the regular trail map, and they are big medal bugs placed around the moutain.  If you snap a photo of the kids with their favorite Snowbug and share it with a mountain host in the EcoZone, they get a treasure.  Shhh, I forgot to do that.

Back to Snowasis.  On this day, the winter carnival went on all afternoon.  There was face painting, caricatures, magic, games and more.  And...it was free!  The kids had a blast and won a lot of prizes.  Check out my face painting photo.  Bren wanted a face paint of him snowboarding, Emily was Elsa from Frozen.   Wow, did they deliver!  It wasn't too crowded, and the weather was beautiful.  Let's just say, it was hard to get everyone to head home they had so much fun.  This goes on all week with scavenger hunts, snow bowling, music entertainment and a visit from Ted Ligety!  This is what Emily has been waiting for.  Check out the schedule for details for the week.

And..another winter storm is heading in, so the best skiing of the season continues!
