Specials at The Canyons for children and women alike.

In addition to new lifts, improved snowmaking and expanded glading to areas such as the top of Peak 5, The Canyons is kicking off its season with special ski instruction opportunities in January, February and March.

For children

The Canyons is offering Utah and Wyoming parents discounted lesson programs for preschoolers aged 3 to 6 and kids aged 4 to 14.

Both of these programs have been designed to provide flexible scheduling options and coaching from resort staff instructors.

Once a child has been placed in the appropriate group based on ability, staff works to schedule the same instructor to provide a level of consistency throughout the season. In order to qualify, the parent or guardian must present a valid Utah or Wyoming driver's license.

For women

holly_web1 (holly_web1)The Canyons will offer specialized women's workshops directed by Olympian and World Cup champion Holly Flanders on Jan. 9-11, Feb. 6-8 and March 6-8.

Flanders has been directing women's workshops for many years. Participants are challenged at a level in which they feel comfortable and safe. The workshops enable women to improve their skiing in an atmosphere of support and friendship.

The classes range from about 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and includes lunch, hors d'oeuvres, video analysis, tips on ski equipment, boot fitting and alignment, stance and balance.

Participants must be intermediate level skiers or above. The cost is $470 for the three-day session. Lift tickets per day are additional.
