The late March and early April storm cycle was a very productive one for the Wasatch. Not only are the snow depths the deepest they’ve been all season (Alta and Snowbird are reporting an 11 foot base) but we now have some of the deepest snow bases in the country.
Here is how our current snowpack is looking:
130” in Little Cottonwood Canyon (Alta, Snowbird)
115” in Big Cottonwood Canyon (Brighton, Solitude)
92” on the Park City Ridge Line (Park City, Deer Valley, Canyons)
95” in the Northern Wasatch (Snowbasin, Powder Mountain)
Well what does all this mean? Quite simply it means there is a ton of skiing left to do this Spring. Park City and Alta already have extended seasons on tap for us and of course we will be skiing Snowbird until at least Memorial Day. Speaking of Snowbird, now would be a great time to buy that Snowbird Spring Pass.
For the short term, it looks as if Spring will be in full force for the next week or two but trust me, do NOT put your skis away just yet. I’ve had some of the deepest skiing in my life in late April at Snowbird.
