Summer is nearly here and with the arrival of green it is time to welcome a cacophony of sound coming to a mountain peak near you. From Reggae to Rock, from solo artists to six piece bands, a diverse and talented mix of musical artists are booked to play Utah's mountains this summer. Possibly the most unique show of the summer is the Music of Michael Jackson with the Utah Symphony at Deer Valley on July 14th. There's no better way to celebrate the long days of summer than to eat, laugh and dance to your favorite band with friends or family. Also, know that most of the mountain venues allow you to bring your own coolers and food. Along with the coolers, make sure to bring a blanket so that your party can picnic in style. Don't forget to bring a sweatshirt and even pants, because even the summer mountains are chilly once the sun goes down. However, before the sun sets there is usually plenty of warmth to run your barefeet through the lush grass. Afterall, your toes were most likely cramped in ski boots all winter, so give them a break.
Let your summer evenings unwind at one of the following venues and don’t forget to dance like no one’s watching. Because there's nothing better than hearing good music in the mountains under the setting sun. OK, I lied, nothing tops a few powder turns.
Canyons hosts a FREE concert each Saturday.
Deer Valley Resort readies the stage each Wednesday and hosts music festivals most weekends.
Red Butte Gardens presents a range of talented artists from Jimmy Cliff to Norah Jones in a 3,000 seat venue at the base of the Wasatch Mountains.
Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort also offers up FREE jams each Saturday along with a Cool Air Concert series June 23 through August 11. Shows start at 6 p.m. on the Plaza deck.
Snowbasin Resort offers up FREE music each Sunday.
Sundance Resort brings a bit of Nashville to Utah with the Bluebird café concert series July 6,13,20.
Wolf Mountain Ski Resort presents the Music in the Mountains concert series.
