‘CHEF WARS!’ RETURNS TO RIVERHORSE MAY 17

The second-annual cooking competition — featuring acclaimed local chefs — benefits Friends of Animals Utah.

WHAT: Riverhorse On Main, one of Park City’s most acclaimed restaurants, is proud to present the second annual “Chef Wars!” a benefit next month for Friends of Animals Utah, Park City’s favorite animal rescue group. On Sunday, May 17, Handle's Briar Handly, Sundance Resort's Mark Peterson, and High West's Vanessa Chapman will square off in a culinary battle royale. Local-celebrity judges will crown the winner, and Park City's own Jennifer Harman will emcee. Guests will also get in on the action: Three sous-chef positions for the competition will be auctioned at the start of the contest, letting amateur foodies try thier hands working alongside some of Park City;s most skiiled professional chefs. All proceeds from the event wil go toward Friends of Animals Utah, a "no-kill" animal rescue group that has saved more than 12,00 animals' lives in the past 25 years. Chefs: Briar Handly, owner and executive chef of Handle; Mark Peterson, chef at Sundance Resorts; and Vanessa Chapman, chef at High West Distillery & Saloon.

Judges: Chantelle Bourdeaux, food consultant and CEO of the Creole Juniper, Slow Food Utah and A Priori Specialty Foods; Jason Stucki, restaurateur, world burger champion and BBQ grand champion; Keith Bryce, photographer, designer and Project Runway celebrity; and Meryl van der Werve, owner and chef of Jafflz and Du Monde Gourmet.

COST: $125, which includes a tasty appetizers and two drink tickets.
