Richmond, Utah, February 5, 2015 – Cherry Peak Resort announced today that skiing will officially be open beginning with the 2015-2016 season. The Grand Lodge design improvements, and ski lift and snow making expansions resulted in some unanticipated delays. These upgrades and enhancements will provide years of enjoyment to the guests of the resort beginning early in the 2015-2016 ski season.
Cherry Peak CEO John Chadwick stated, “With all the enhancements we’ve invested in recently, we will soon have the ski related construction completed and will shift our focus to preparations for summer activities, followed closely by start-up operations for the upcoming ski season.” Chadwick said further, “We firmly believe these resort upgrades will improve Cherry Peak customer experience.” Cherry Peak is confident that customers will be very satisfied with the finished product. All Cherry Peak ski vouchers and passes will be honored next season.
In January, the Cherry Peak team successfully completed the load testing required for certification of their Gateway and Vista lifts. This load testing required over 12 tons of ballast to be placed on the lifts while the lifts were run through significant load, speed, brake and other tests. All parameters of the testing met or exceeded government and industry requirements. The 500’ long conveyer lift for beginners is already in place and running. Installation of the third trip-chair lift, Summit, will occur this spring and summer. In addition, snow making efforts have paid off with the recent successful testing of Cherry Peak’s intricate and expansive snow making system.
Construction of the Grand Lodge is progressing, however, has slowed slightly due to the increased size and unexpected permitting issues related to a number of upgrades to the facility. The overall design and grandeur of the lodge has been continually enhanced and Cherry Peak believes customer satisfaction will be extremely high for those taking advantage of the resort’s beautiful amenities and surroundings later this year.
The community will have a number of opportunities this summer to visit the resort and preview the lifts and Grand Lodge in anticipation for the upcoming ski season. Customers may also purchase discounted season passes, lift tickets, Cherry Peak retail items, reserve full-size ski lockers, and take advantage of brand new ski rental packages well in advance of the season start.
