DEER VALLEY RESORT: PARK CITY, UTAH (October 2016) – For 13 years running, Deer Valley Resort employees offer their blood during Halloween at the annual Transylvania Tea Party Blood Drive. Partnering with ARUP Blood Services, the employee and community Halloween-themed event, held Monday, October 31, is a long-standing tradition that benefits local community blood banks. "There really isn't a much better way to get into the Halloween spirit than to dress up and give blood,” said Bob Wheaton, Deer Valley Resort’s president and general manager. “Our employees have a lot of fun with the theme of this event, but it also brings a great deal of satisfaction knowing the good they are doing to help our community.” Deer Valley Resort encourages the public to join resort employees in donating blood at the Transylvania Tea Party held on the second level of Snow Park Lodge in the Clock Room from 10 am to 3 pm. Over 90 people attended last year's blood drive and donated more than 63 units of blood. The vital, always-needed donations are utilized for emergency situations and to help individuals suffering from cancer, blood disorders, sickle-cell anemia and other illnesses. Walk-ins are welcome, or appointments can be scheduled by calling Deer Valley Resort human resources at 435-645-6654 or online at www.utahblood.org, using the search code B068. Costumes are optional and light refreshments will be provided. Donors must come with a photo ID, be 18 or older (or at least 16 years old with parental permission slip), weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. To find out if you are eligible to donate blood, please consult the ARUP Blood Services website at utahblood.org. ARUP Blood Services, a division of ARUP Laboratories which is an enterprise of the University of Utah and the Department of Pathology, will be conducting the drive and is proud to be the sole blood provider to University of Utah Hospital, Huntsman Cancer Hospital, Primary Children's Medical Center and Shriners Hospital for Children.
