STORY

DEER VALLEY RESORT; PARK CITY, UTAH (January 4, 2016) – The world's best aerial and mogul skiers will take to Deer Valley Resort's slopes again this winter to compete in the 2016 FIS Visa Freestyle International World Cup, held Thursday, February 4 through Saturday, February 6, 2016. Regarded as a preeminent venue for the international freestyle community, Deer Valley Resort has played host to international and world competitions for 17 consecutive years, including the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, two World Championships and 14 World Cups.

“The FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup brings such an amazing display of athletic ability to our slopes each year,” said Bob Wheaton, president and general manager of Deer Valley Resort. “This event affords visiting guests and Park City locals the chance to watch as competitors twist, fly and race their way to the podium on the same runs used during the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.”

The spectator-friendly World Cup competitions are free to the public and will be held at night under the lights at Deer Valley Resort. The crowd-pleasing event kicks off with a free concert by Dawes on Lower Main Street in Historic Park City Wednesday, February 3 from 6:30 to 9 p.m., with a fireworks show immediately following.

The athletic events begin Thursday evening, February 4, with men's and women's mogul competitions scheduled on Champion ski run. Friday night brings the flight of men's and women's aerial competitions held on White Owl ski run. Men's and women's dual mogul competitions are scheduled for Saturday evening on Champion ski run. Finals for all disciplines will take place each evening, with a firework display concluding each night. Each discipline will also be filmed and televised on NBC and NBC Sports Network, airing February 6, 7 and 14, 2016. Fans can view the events live in spectacular high definition via NBC Sports Live Extra online at NBCSports.com/LiveExtra, or through the Live Extra app on mobile, tablet and through the Apple TV or Roku connected TV devices.
