SOLITUDE, Utah (December 2017) — ‘Tis the season to ring in the holidays with Solitude Mountain Resort’s annual winter festivities. In addition to skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing, visitors and families are invited to enjoy the resort’s Winterfest activities, participate in the free Children’s Glow Parade on Saturday, December 30, and ring in the new year at the Torchlight Parade on Sunday, December 31.
“The holidays are a magical time in the mountains, and we welcome our guests to come celebrate with us,” said Solitude Mountain Resort General Manager Kim Mayhew. “We love that our family-friendly events, lively atmosphere, and incredible snow create unforgettable memories and lasting traditions for our Solitude friends and families.”
Solitude’s annual Winterfest begins Saturday, December 16, and runs through Monday, January 1, 2018. Solitude Village lodging guests are invited to participate in complimentary daily
activities scheduled during the 15-day Winterfest. Activities include s’mores parties, magicians, snowmen building contests, an Avalanche Dog Demonstration with a “mock” avalanche drill, and live contemporary folk music on Christmas Eve by Salzburger Echo. Santa will also be visiting on Christmas Eve for pictures at the Solitude Village fire pit and can be spotted on the slopes on Christmas Day riding and handing out candy.
On Saturday, December 30, children 12 and under are invited to create Utah’s best glow parade. Meet at Last Chance Lodge at 4:45 p.m. to enjoy complimentary hot cocoa and treats. At dusk, the children will gear up with their skis or snowboards and glow sticks. They will ride Moonbeam Express chairlift with Solitude ski instructors, then wind down Main Street run. On Sunday, December 31, join us at 5:00 p.m. at Last Chance Lodge for an hour long children’s magic show. Then at 6:00 p.m. watch the light show as Solitude staff members snake down the mountain with orange glowing torches. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
