PARK CITY, UTAH (Aug. 2015) – Park City was once again named a “Gold-Level Ride Center” by the Mountain Bicycling Association — three years after being crowned the first IMBA “Gold-Level Ride Center” in the world.
“This is the highest designation for a mountain bike destination,” IMBA communications director Mark Eller said. “No place better exemplifies the Ride Center ideal of offering great options for any level of rider and any style of riding than Park City.”
IMBA ranks locations for possible Ride Center status based on a comprehensive range of criteria, which take into account overall trail mileage, as well as area lodging and restaurants.
Park City not only excelled in all those areas, said IMBA director of development Rich Cook, but also demonstrated “A commitment to effective master planning. The sheer number of miles of trails is fantastic — there are more than 400! But what's really important is that they function as a cohesive network, with signage and trail connections that create an enormously rich mountain bike experience."
With the award, Park City is now listed as a Gold-Level Ride Center on the IMBA website, www.imba.com. Only five other towns have earned the plaudit, with just three of those in the United States: Boise-Eagle, Idaho; Duluth, Minnesota; and Oakridge, Oregon.
Park City officials expect the award will attract even more summer tourists to the area. Park City boasts an extensive trail network of over 400 miles of public access trails designated exclusively for non-motorized recreation.
“Once again being named an IMBA Gold-Level Ride Center destination is a tremendous honor, and it’s the kind of thing that will bring more summer and fall visitors to Park City,” said Rhonda Sideris, president of Park City Lodging. “We’ve taken huge steps as a community to contribute to this being such a bike-friendly place.”
