Ski Utah Receives J. Willard Marriott Library History-Maker Award

40 Years of Promoting Utah’s ‘Greatest Snow on Earth’

SALT LAKE CITY, UT (November 5, 2015) – Tonight at the 25-year anniversary Ski Affair, the annual fund-raiser for the Ski Archives of the J. Willard Marriott Library at the University of Utah, Ski Utah was awarded The History-Maker Award. The History-Maker Award is presented to individuals or organizations from the Intermountain Region in recognition of their extraordinary accomplishments in winter sports.

“It’s great to have our organization recognized,” says Nathan Rafferty, President/CEO of Ski Utah. “The real success of Ski Utah has to be credited to the cooperation of Utah’s 14 alpine ski areas, the State of Utah and our membership base.”

This year Ski Utah is also celebrating 40 years of promoting The Greatest Snow on Earth®. From the organizations humbled beginnings in 1975 with a promotional budget of $500,000 to today’s $3 million, Ski Utah is a brand known around the world. Ski Utah continues to be the pivotal marketing arm in Utah’s winter sports industry. Over the last 40 years, Ski Utah has helped hit record skier visit numbers with 4.2 million in the 2007-08 season, set the standard for staging the Winter Olympics in 2002 and continually supports Utah’s $1.3 billion dollar winter sports industry.
