Snowbasin Resort Announces New Terrain Based Learning Program

Award Winning Learn to Ski & Snowboard Program Makes Learning a Breeze This Winter

Snowbasin, UT – January 6, 2015 – Snowbasin Resort is proud to announce it is teaming up with SNOW Operating and Snow Park Technologies to be one of the first Western US resorts and only regional resort to adopt the award-winning Terrain Based Learning Program for all our beginner ski and snowboard lessons this winter.

Terrain Based Learning is a revolution within the snow sports industry that makes learning to ski and snowboard easier than ever, eliminates fear and puts the focus back on fun.  By using purpose-built snow features to intuitively facilitate the body movements and skills needed to make your first on-snow turns, Terrain Based Learning moves away from our traditional ski and snowboard lesson and gets guests moving and making those first turns faster than ever before.  Lesson takers at Snowbasin this winter will encounter 5 distinct learning features including: the mini-pipe, rollers and return walls, banked turns, the pump track and the perfect slope.  Each feature is designed to assist the guest in learning the fundamental skills needed for skiing or snowboarding, and eliminates the fear caused by the need to fight gravity from the learning process.   With our new Terrain Based Learning method of teaching, lesson takers at Snowbasin can expect to find a fun and friendly environment that both entertains and challenges them the entire day.

“Based off our large success with the Burton Riglet Park Program last year we decided to take it a step further to teach all of our beginner skiers and snowboarders through this specialized terrain to better their on-snow experience” Snow Sports Director Andrew Barfield said.

“We couldn’t be more proud or excited about working with Snowbasin Resort this season.  Snowbasin has such a great history of offering best-in-class lesson experiences.  Now with Terrain Based Learning we’re giving their instructors the best tools available to offer their first-time guests the best on-snow experiences possible.” Says Joe Hession, CEO, SNOW Operating.

Snowbasin Resort, will be celebrating the grand opening of the Terrain Based Learning area on January 16th, 2015 by offering a free morning TBL group lesson and Little Cat Lift Ticket to the first 25 people who sign up at the Snow Sports Learning Center desk in person before 9:00 am. This will be a first come first serve basis. Rentals not included.

Snowbasin Resort’s Terrain Based Learning area is offering lift, rental & lesson packages starting at $99.  Check Snowbasin.com or call 801.620.1015 for more details.
