Best Places to Dine with a View in Utah’s Mountains

Mountains, big views, skiing, and a fantastic dining scene are just a few of the reasons I moved to Utah. I especially love when I can bring them all together. Few things beat clicking out of your bindings, settling in with a great meal, and watching the light move across the mountains. From mid-mountain lunch stops to destination-worthy dining rooms, Utah’s resorts deliver some truly memorable places to eat with a view.

Below are some of my favorite spots across the state where the scenery is just as much a part of the experience as the food.

Park City Mountain

Lookout Cabin

Perched on the Canyons side of Park City Mountain Resort, Lookout Cabin serves elevated Rocky Mountain cuisine paired with sweeping views. Access is ski- or ride-in only, and reservations are highly recommended, although many guests are still able to snag a table depending on timing. This is an ideal stop when you want to slow down, take it all in, and enjoy a long mountain lunch. Don’t miss the fondue. Open 11am to 2:30pm, Thursday through Monday.

Deer Valley Resort

Glitretind at Stein Eriksen Lodge

Dining at Glitretind, located inside Stein Eriksen Lodge Deer Valley, is a refined experience from start to finish. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame beautiful views of Deer Valley Resort, making it a great choice for breakfast, lunch, or an elegant evening off the slopes. It feels sophisticated without being stuffy, and the setting alone makes it worth the visit. Don’t miss Sunday brunch.

Snowbird

The Aerie at Cliff Lodge

A classic pick for views, The The Aerie at Snowbird sits on the 10th floor of the Cliff Lodge. Big windows and big mountains define this space. On a clear day, the Wasatch feels endless. The menu features modern American gastropub cuisine paired with an extensive wine list. One reviewer summed it up perfectly, calling it the best meal they have had in Utah.

Alta Ski Area

Alf’s Restaurant

A ski day at Alta Ski Area would not feel complete without a stop at Alf's. This mid-mountain restaurant serves classic ski-area fare with standout views of Albion Basin and Devil’s Castle. It is perfectly on brand for Alta: unpretentious, scenic, and focused on fueling another lap. Try the chili or the spiced chai and make time to check out the historic photos. Sitting on the deck is also a major win on warmer days!

Solitude Mountain Resort

Roundhouse

One of my favorite ski lunch stops. Located at the base of the Powderhorn Lift at Solitude Mountain Resort, Roundhouse offers Himalayan-inspired dishes and cozy fireside seating. Head for the patio when the weather allows to pair your meal with open mountain views. It is an easy, relaxed place to recharge midday without leaving the rhythm of your ski day. Go for the curry.

Brighton

Molly Green’s

Molly Greens at Brighton Resort is an iconic A-frame lodge that delivers cozy mountain atmosphere, fireplaces, big windows, and rustic charm. After a morning of ski laps, my husband and I often head here for beer and nachos. This is not a place full of glossy modern décor. It is down-to-earth, ski-mountain comfort in the best way. Don’t miss it.

Snowbasin Resort

Needles Lodge

If you are looking for a true wow factor, Snowbasin Needles Lodge is hard to beat. Sitting at the top of the mountain, it offers expansive 360-degree views stretching across the Ogden Valley and beyond. Rare among mountain dining options, Needles Lodge has earned a strong 4.7-star average on Google, with diners especially raving about Sunday brunch. Even non-skiers make the trip for this one, and for good reason.

The Overlook at Needles Lodge

Inside Needles Lodge, The Overlook adds a 21+ option during winter. Craft cocktails, elevated bites, and the same dramatic scenery make this an easy pick for a date night on the mountain or a relaxed après with a view.

Powder Mountain

Hidden Lake Cantina

At the Powder Mountain Hidden Lake Cantina delivers panoramic views with a side of tacos. Yes, powder and tacos. It does not get much better than that. The atmosphere is laid-back, the scenery is expansive, and it is a great place to slow things down and relish the landscape between runs.

Sundance Mountain Resort

Bearclaw Cabin

If you are skiing at Sundance Mountain Resort and want something casual with a view, Sundance Bearclaw Cabin is your place.

The menu leans classic ski-lunch comfort food done right. Think burgers, grilled sandwiches, chili, soups, and quick grab-and-go options that still feel satisfying after a long morning on the hill. Located mid-mountain, the outdoor seating is hard to beat on a sunny day. You get fresh mountain air, wide-open views of Mount Timpanogos, and that laid-back Sundance vibe all at once.

Tips for Planning a Mountain Meal with a View

Check access ahead of time, as some locations are ski-in only. Make reservations whenever possible, especially on weekends and holidays. Time your visit for a late lunch or early dinner to catch the best light. Weather matters, and clear days deliver the biggest payoff for views.

Utah’s resorts offer far more than great turns. They also serve up memorable meals in settings that remind you why you came to the mountains in the first place. Whether you are carving out time for a long lunch or planning a special night out, these dining spots let you enjoy Utah’s scenery from a seat at the table. On your next ski trip, I highly recommend planning at least one view-filled meal.
