PARK CITY, UT (March 2017) – A beloved annual event, the EY Ability Snow Challenge brings skiers, snowboarders, friends, family, co-workers and snow enthusiasts of all ages and abilities together in support of the National Ability Center’s adaptive recreational programs. Held Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Park City Mountain, the Ability Snow Challenge is a fun-filled day on the mountain with friendly competition, amazing raffles, awards, food, Skullcandy DJ and more.
With a theme of Denim and Diamonds, the general public is encouraged to form five-person teams and come adorned in denim, diamonds and/or both, with prizes awarded for best dressed team, best dressed individual and best dressed volunteer. Each team will be paired with a local skiing legend, Olympian or NAC athlete to claim category titles for racing down the Eagle Race Arena Course. Teams can choose between three different race options to compete. Some of this year’s participants include Anna Beninati, NAC Paralympic hopeful; Jenny Beem, Special Olympic gold medalist; Megan Brown Brent, Alpine ski legend; Robin Jennings, Major League Baseball legend; Carrie Sheinberg, Olympic ski legend, and Chris Waddell; Paralympic ski legend.
A highlight of the Ability Snow Challenge is the Participant Demo Race, where the NAC features some of its participants who have been working hard all winter to hone their skills. Guest are able to see firsthand some of the specialized adaptive equipment the NAC uses in its programs. Everyone is encouraged to come out and cheer on the NAC racers. The day ends with an amazing raffle and an After Party from 3-5 pm on the patio by Legacy Lodge, with live music by Muddpuddle thanks to Mountain Town Music and Park City, as well as a beer garden and food (for purchase).
