Park City, Utah (March 3, 2015) – The Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation proudly recognizes the life and legacy of Deedee Corradini, former Mayor of Salt Lake City and pioneer of sport equality and women’s rights in winter sports. Corradini passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015 at her home in Park City. She was 70.

Corradini was a key leader during the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. Following the momentum of the Utah Games’ success, she turned her efforts to championing women’s participation at the elite and development levels in the sport of ski jumping.

As president of Women’s Ski Jumping USA for more than ten years, Corradini embodied positive change with a global campaign to raise awareness of women in sports. Bold and persistent in her efforts, Corradini’s work culminated with the inclusion of women’s ski jumping at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.

The Utah Olympic Park, home of the official 2002 Winter Olympic ski jumping venue, is honored to have partnered and supported Corradini’s efforts locally through facility usage, program development and year-round training opportunities.

“I have great admiration for the dedication and perseverance Deedee exhibited in ensuring that all youth – male or female – who now ski jump at the Olympic Park can aspire to be an Olympian,” said Colin Hilton, President and CEO of Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation. “Deedee has transformed the lives of many and she will be greatly missed.”
