Park City, Utah (January 5, 2016) – In partnership with the International Bobsled and Skeleton Federation (IBSF), Utah Olympic Park will be hosting the BMW IBSF Bobsled and Skeleton World Cup on Friday, January 15 and Saturday, January 16. The event will be held on the sliding track used in the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.
There are eight World Cup Bobsled and Skeleton competitions around the world in the 2015-2016 season. The event at Utah Olympic Park is the fifth in the series which includes stops in Lake Placid, Whistler, St. Moritz, Altenberg, Winterberg, and Konigssee. Utah last hosted a World Cup Bobsled and Skeleton event in 2013 ahead of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.
Bobsled and Skeleton athletes from over 20 countries will participate in Women’s Skeleton, Men’s Skeleton, Women’s Bobsled, and 4-Man Bobsled races over the two days of competition. Races will take place both days during the day and evening. See full schedule below. Spectator admission is free and shuttles will be provided to the various viewing locations around the track.
To celebrate this international competition, Utah Olympic Park is hosting a free community festival located in the lower loop of the sliding track from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Friday and 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Saturday. The festival will feature live music by Motherlode Band (Friday) and Changing Lanes (Saturday), food trucks including Marley’s Sliders and Smokestream BBQ, beverages, free adventure ropes courses, and family friendly activities and crafts.
World Cup VIP tickets are available and include admission to a special viewing area, food and beverage. VIP tickets are $50 per day or $75 for both days. Guests can purchase online or in person at the Utah Olympic Park.
