Celebrate Christmas and New Year's in Park City

It’s the most wonderful time of the year in the most wonderful food and drink destination in the West. Celebrate with special holiday menus and discounts.

PARK CITY, Utah (Dec. 14, 2015) — It’s the most wonderful time of the year in the most wonderful food and drink destination in the West.

The Park City Area Restaurant Association in Park City, Utah, invites friends and neighbors from across the region and around the world to celebrate Christmas and New Year’s Eve with its member restaurants this month, which are serving special menus for the holidays.

New Year’s Eve: $120 three-course prix fixe 

Park City’s top destination for upscale contemporary American cuisine is celebrating New Year’s with an unforgettable three-course dinner. This isn’t your usual prix-fixe menu with just one or two options – start with your choice of one of six appetizers like tuna tower with avocado and wasabi cream, roasted Colorado elk sausage or chilled seafood ceviche with cream and crispy plantains. Then for the second course, enjoy one of another six selections like Utah trout with pumpkin seed crumble, grilled Shetland Islands salmon with lobster-drawn butter and bootleg togarashi dusted venison loin. There are plenty of gluten free options, such as crispy gluten free fried chicken with apple jam, and choose between tequila-infused key lime pie or chocolate-frosted chocolate cake with chocolate truffle for dessert.

THE BRASS TAG

Christmas Special prix-fixe dinner: $38 per person

The Brass Tag serves Deer Valley-inspired brick-oven cuisine at the Lodges at Deer Valley. For Christmas, enjoy a prix-fixe dinner for two including oven-braised Niman Ranch lamb shank, served with bacon Brussels sprouts, roasted red pepper ragu, smoked Gouda polenta and merlot au jus.

Spend more time with friends and family this season, and less time in the kitchen, with items from the Deer Valley Grocery~Café. Augment your main dish with a range of delicious sides, from lemon thyme turkey gravy to spiced apricot chutney, Deer Valley roasted garlic mashers, artisan Caesar salad, roasted baby carrots and homemade struan stuffing with grilled artichoke hearts, sundried tomatoes, caramelized shallots and fresh thyme and sage. The mashers and carrots are gluten-free, and the salad can be served without croutons.       

HYATT ESCALA LODGE

Christmas Dinner: $87 buffet for adults, $25 for children ages 2 to 12

This lively ski-in/ski-out bar and restaurant is serving a sumptuous Christmas dinner featuring traditional fare, modern comfort food, local selections and other delights. Enjoy roast chestnut bisque, littleneck clam chowder, and Red Bicycle baguettes; a carving station with Niman Ranch prime rib, cider-brined turkey and garlic-roasted bone-in leg of lamb; sides like parmesan-whipped potatoes, brown sugar sweet potatoes and roasted vegetables; plus four salads, mini pastries, a decorate-your-own cookie station, and a “Young at Heart” station with pizza, turkey fingers” macaroni and cheese and other childhood staples. Dinner is being served between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.

New Year’s Eve: $135 buffet for adults, $45 for children ages 2 to 12

The Hyatt Escala is pulling out all the stops for the New Year. Dig into roast venison, sous-vide prime tenderloin of beef, salt-crusted sea bass, duck confit and black pepper fettuccini, Niman Ranch prime short-rib ravioli and spinach cannelloni and San Marzano tomato sauce; accompaniments like roasted asparagus and roasted vegetables, brown sugar butternut squash and parmesan-whipped potatoes; plus seafood like fresh-shucked oysters, stone crab claws, seafood ceviche tostadas, New England lobster rolls and beat-cured salmon. Lobster and roasted tomato bisque, roasted parsnip and leek veloute soup, plus salads, a decorate-your-own cupcake station, and “Young at Heart” station will also be on offer. The meal is being served from 6 to 10 p.m.

THE MARIPOSA

New Year’s Eve: $125 four-course prix fixe

Utah’s number one-rated restaurant for food and service by Zagat is serving an intimate three-course dinner for New Year’s Eve. The first course comes with your choice of Maine lobster chowder; nori and sesame seared ahi tuna, wild mushroom beggar’s purse or aged Gruyere and chive soufflé. Then enjoy lemon thyme gnocchi, quail saltimbocca, or burrata with fresh basil and heirloom cherry tomatoes, before savoring your choice of entrée: harissa and fresh herb-crusted Niman Ranch lamb chops, pan-roasted scallops or seared bison fillet. For dessert, enjoy caramelized pear and chevre. 

STEIN ERIKSEN LODGE

Ring in the season at Deer Valley’s famed Stein Eriksen. The Christmas celebrations kick-off with the Lodge’s annual tree-lighting ceremony and the big reveal of its gingerbread masterpieces. This year, the dazzling display features Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the rest of the “Peanuts” gang, made from 400 pounds of gingerbread, 300 pounds of sugar and 30 pounds of fondant. Santa Claus will also be paying a visit to the lodge, with complimentary photos available for all ages in front of the Christmas tree.

Christmas Eve: There will be two seating’s with a special prix fixe holiday menu available in the Glitretind. The first seating begins between 5:30 and 6 p.m. ($145 adults, $30 for the kids’ menu). The second seating begins between 7:30 and 8 p.m. ($160 for adults, $30 for the kids’ menu). Entertainers will perform from 6 to 9 p.m. 

Christmas Day: Dig into Stein’s famed Christmas buffet as carolers sing throughout the day. Reservations will be available between 11 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. ($79 for adults, $30 for children ages 5 to 12). 

Christmas Night: Stein’s special Christmas Night buffet is 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. ($85 for adults, $35 for children ages 5 to 12).  

New Year’s Eve: This year’s New Year’s Eve celebration will feature a harpist, a band, dancing and decorations, plus a prix fixe dinner menu served in two seating’s at Glitretind. The first seating — starting at 6 p.m., $185 a person — will feature a four-course menu and special kids menu  ($50). The second seating — starting at 8 p.m., $235 a person — will feature a five-course menu. No kids’ menu will be available during the second seating.

New Year’s Day Buffet: Stein Eriksen serves its world famous Sunday Brunch with a number of New Year specialties from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. ($60 for adults, $25 for children).

Enjoy globally-inspired fine dining with Tupelo, whose menu honors artisanal ingredients and food terroir. On Christmas Eve, enjoy five gourmet courses, starting with seared Maine scallops with golden squash, toasted pumpkin and benne seeds, then house-made pappardelle, braised rabbit, fried creminelli ham and crispy Brussels sprouts. Next, enjoy roasted duck breast, pan-roasted elk and a dessert of sticky toffee pudding.

Christmas Day: $105 five-course prix fixe, $55 for children ages 5 to 12

Vegetarian menu available (must be reserved in advance)

This Christmas Day menu starts with Maine crab fritters with hot sauce butter, sweet and sour okra, and Aleppo chile, then a potato-ricotta ravioli with braisd pork, mint, farm egg and pickled greens. Then dig into roasted Maine scallops, wagyu strip, and warm whiskey apple cake with egg nog ice cream for dessert.

New Year’s Eve: $125 five-course prix fixe, optional $75 wine pairing, $65 for children ages 5 to 12

Vegetarian menu available (must be reserved in advance)

Tupelo’s delectable New Year’s Eve dinner starts with kampachi tartare with crispy potatoes, passion fruit puree, chives and Snake River caviar; followed by risotto with winter truffles; pan-roasted steelhead trout with gold rice, field peas and lobster butter; and sous vide wagyu strip with wild mushrooms and marrow. For dessert, enjoy chocolate chestnut cheesecake with XOXO sauce and pomegranate ice cream. 

WALDORF ASTORIA AT THE CANYONS VILLAGE

Christmas Eve: $59 four-course prix fixe, children’s menu available

Powder’s Christmas Eve dinner starts with spiced winter squash soup, followed by baby beet salad, then a choice of New York strip loin, grass-fed beef tenderloin, pan-seared Utah trout or pumpkin ravioli. For dessert, tuck into Waldorf red velvet cake with chocolate ganache, cream cheese frosting and raspberries. Dinner will be served from 5 to 10 p.m.

Christmas Day: $69 buffet for adults, $25 for children ages 3 to 11: 
Give your stomach the gift of Powder’s Christmas buffet this holiday season. Enjoy breakfast staples like eggs with potatoes, bacon, chorizo hash and more; a range of fruits, cheeses, salads and soups; seafood like smoked Utah trout, West Coast oysters, smoked salmon and poached jumbo prawns; baked pies, cakes, pastries and cookies; and traditional items like candied yams, Yukon Gold mashed potatoes, roasted root vegetables and sautéed Brussels sprouts. A carving station will be serving grass-fed prime rib, roasted turkey and rosemary and garlic-crusted leg of lamb, and entrées of Kurobuta pork loin and miso-glazed sea bass will also be on offer.

New Year’s Eve Dinner: $105 five-course prix fixe, children’s menu available

Powder’s special New Year’s Eve dinner starts with a champagne toast and chilled shigoku oyster, then enjoy squash bisque with an intermezzo of lemon sorbet. For an entrée, choose from pan-seared Utah trout, braised buffalo short rib or Mary’s Organic chicken. Dessert features a trio: dark chocolate mousse, burnt banana and peanuts. Dinner is from 4 to 10 p.m.

WINDY RIDGE BAKERY

Orders: 435-647-2906. Christmas orders must be placed by Friday, Dec. 18. Pick-up Dec. 24. No special orders between Dec. 21 and Jan. 1.

Take-away menu, prices from $18.50 to $25 for items serving six to 10.

Enjoy delicious traditional brunch quiche, cakes and tarts from Park City’s premier Windy Ridge Bakery. Sweet selections include Buche de Noel, traditional chocolate cake roll filled with sweetened whipping cream and chocolate ganache, and garnished with holiday décor; “Mile-High Apple Pie;” dark chocolate truffle cake; and frangipane tart made with apricots and golden almond cake filling, and baked in a pate sucree shell. For more savory options, choose from tomato spinach quiche with caramelized onion and goat cheese, or ham and Swiss quiche with caramelized onions and scallions.
