The newly opened Inn at Sundance Mountain Resort does not feel new. Instead, it feels warm, rooted in history and quietly luxurious. This is a ski-in/ski-out property designed to complement its surroundings rather than compete with them, and that intention is clear from the moment you arrive.
The Inn is constructed as two wings, one on either side of the existing river, connected by a bridge. True to founder Robert Redford’s guiding principle, “develop a little, preserve a lot,” the design works with the natural landscape. The river remains intact, and the building sits lower than the surrounding trees, allowing the forest and mountains to remain the focal point.
Inside, the welcome feels immediate and genuine. Within minutes, I had a hot cup of tea in hand while taking in the lobby, a thoughtfully curated space filled with art, books, vintage-inspired furniture, and nods to the history of the valley. As I explored the rest of the Inn, that sense of warmth and intention carried throughout.

About the Inn at Sundance Mountain Resort
Simplicity from Room to Slopes
The Inn sits just steps from the Outlaw Express Lift, offering one of the shortest and most seamless ski-in/ski-out experiences you will find. A connected boot room allows guests to warm boots and helmets before heading out, and staff are on hand to help everyone, kids and adults alike, get geared up. From there, guests stop by the ski valet for freshly waxed skis and head straight to the lift.
Location
Located in the Sundance Resort Village, the Inn is within easy walking distance of restaurants, the Owl Bar, and village shopping. It is easy to grab a meal, a drink, or any essentials without needing to travel elsewhere.

The Living Room Gathering Space
Guests have access to the Living Room, a welcoming space designed for gathering and unwinding. Here, you can enjoy a complimentary European-style breakfast, order light bites, sip a cocktail, or simply drink tea by the fire while taking in the view. Games, books, and comfortable seating make it an easy place to linger.

Rooms Designed for Rest and Recovery
Sundance Mountain Resort consulted with a PhD sleep specialist to design rooms that support deep, restorative rest. Features include Rivolta 100 percent cotton sheets, calming lighting, humidifiers, and blackout blinds. Rooms also feature local art, beautiful views, window seats for reading or morning coffee, and a well-appointed beverage station. The result is a space where guests wake up rested and ready for the day ahead.

Sundance Mountain Resort is known for its intimate ski experience, but the resort offers much more. In winter, guests can explore guided snowshoe tours, cross-country skiing, and art workshops. Guest Services and Experiences
Curated experiences are a hallmark of Sundance Mountain Resort. The resort offers a full calendar of events, workshops, and classes rooted in art, film, and nature. Guests can book guided outings, wellness experiences, spa services, or take a dip in the spring pools. Learning and creativity are woven into nearly every offering, and making time for an art class is well worth it.
Dining at Sundance Mountain Resort
Dining at Sundance Resort reflects the same philosophy that guides the resort: thoughtful, seasonal, and rooted in place. Options range from elevated mountain dining to relaxed après-ski fare. Tree Room remains a destination experience, while the Owl Bar offers a casual setting for drinks and conversation. My personal favorite is the Foundry Grill, where a laid-back atmosphere pairs with seasonal dishes prepared simply and well. Do not miss the Brussels sprout appetizer.
Dining here feels intentional, unrushed, and closely connected to the surrounding landscape.
A Deep Sense of History
Founded by Robert Redford, Sundance Mountain Resort has long followed the principle of “develop a little, preserve a lot.” That ethos shows up everywhere, from the scale of the buildings to the protection of open space and waterways. Its history as a gathering place for artists, filmmakers, and outdoor enthusiasts continues to shape the resort today.
Commitment to Conservation
Conservation is central to Sundance Mountain Resort’s identity. Of the resort’s 2,600 acres, 1,862 acres are protected through a conservation easement and restrictive covenants. Responsible development, habitat preservation, and sustainable operations guide decisions across the resort. From low-impact building design to programs that support land conservation and mindful recreation, Sundance Resort continues to lead by example.
