When it comes to throwing a party, Park City Mountain knows what they are doing. Last weekend, Park City hosted the 20th annual Pond skimming event. Here's the recap of one of my favorite events of the year.
Starting at noon outside of Red Pine Lodge, people gathered to watch the bravest in town attempt to cross the 100 foot slush pit pond. The pond skimming event is a day for getting completely ridiculous when it comes to your ski attire. It is highly encourage and absolutely acceptable. From Hulk Hogan to The Sesame Street Characters, all the way to a furry jock strap and skin tight green suit!
Even our Ski Utah Yeti made an appearance and was lucky enough to be one of the judges!
Contestants were judged on costume, air, style, distance, and crowd reaction.
Some were lucky and successfully made it across, and some had wet, wild wipeouts!
Don't worry, life guards and unicorns are on staff and ready to rescue!
The afternoon is filled with surprising giveaways and entertainment. The winner of the event was awarded, and the party continued!
After the Pond Skimming event, the festivities and crowd carried on to the Base at Canyon’s Village for the Spring Grüv concert series. John Brown’s Body with opener Bryon Friedman & Friend’s performed while beverages could be enjoyed from the Umbrella Bar. If you were unable to attend this day at Park City Mountain Resort, make sure you plan to be there next year for the fun, or maybe sign up to see if you will be the next Pond Skimming Pro!
Don't worry, if you missed this spectacle, there are still plenty of other spring events.
XOXO, Bring on the SNOW!
